ヴァーリアの花嫁 by あきづき空太

I finally finished some manga I have been reading by Akidzuki Sorata, the author of 赤髪の白雪姫 (Snow White with the Red Hair). I really enjoy Snow White so when I was at Kinokuniya Japanese bookstore in the spring I picked up a copy of ヴァーリアの花嫁 which translates to something like “Varia the Bride”. I chose it because it was a single volume of manga, not a series.

Varia was enjoyable but I had expected it to be a one-shot and instead it was a collection of short stories. The stories were mostly love stories and there was a bit of fantasy to them which I enjoyed. The Snow White manga by this author is fiction but not very fantastical in regards to magic although it does have some interesting fictional plant life, including glowing flowers. I personally like fantasy, so I was pleased to see a bit more of that included in Varia.

I think it’s a shame that these stories are so short because they all have the potential to be much longer stories. I really enjoyed the characters and their personalities.
